The arithmetic of a buy
A buy is one large bet on a single outcome. Our arithmetic at a CA$1 base stake:
- A 100x buy costs CA$100. Over ten buys you have put CA$1,000 through the game; at a 96% return the expected cost is about CA$40, but the spread of results is very wide, and ten buys in a row that each return 20x to 40x is an ordinary outcome.
