What it costs
Every bet you place to clear wagering carries the house edge. Our arithmetic at a 96% slot:
- Hellspin, 40x on a CA$100 bonus: CA$4,000 of bets, expected cost about CA$160. The bonus is worth CA$100. On average you lose CA$60 more than the bonus gives you.
- iWild, 60x on CA$100 + CA$100: CA$12,000 of bets, expected cost about CA$480. On average the bonus costs you CA$380 more than it is worth.
These are averages over many players. Some finish wagering well ahead, most do not finish at all, and a high-volatility slot makes both outcomes more extreme. The bonus is a high-variance ticket, not a discount.
The four conditions around the multiplier
Game weighting. Hellspin counts slots at 100% and table and live games at 0% (2a); jackpot games and a list of titles are excluded (2b). iWild lets its IWL bonus money be wagered on slots plus six named Evolution live games (2.8).
Bet cap. Hellspin: 5 EUR or USD per bet while a bonus is active, with purchased features and respins counting as bets (1e, 3j). The Terdersoft strings: 5 EUR on slots, 10 EUR on live games. Breaking the cap can void the bonus and its winnings.
Time limit. iWild bonuses expire after 24 hours by default unless stated otherwise (1.11). Hellspin's no-deposit bonuses must be wagered within 7 days (3i); its welcome pages give no period.
Win caps. Hellspin caps payouts from cashback, comp point, tournament, deposit, VIP and weekly bonuses at 10,000 EUR or USD, but not from the welcome bonus (1c); no-deposit winnings are capped at 50 (1b).
Start with a small Interac deposit and ask for a small withdrawal early.
When to take a bonus
Take one when you would have played that much on slots anyway, the multiplier applies to the bonus only, the time limit is a week or more, and your usual stake is under the bet cap. Decline it when you play table games, live games or jackpots, when you buy features, or when you want to withdraw quickly. Declining is always allowed, and it keeps every win withdrawable at once.

- What does 40x wagering mean?
You must place bets totalling 40 times the bonus amount before the bonus and its winnings can be withdrawn. On a CA$100 bonus, that is CA$4,000 of bets. Hellspin applies 40x to deposit bonuses (bonus terms 1k).
- Is 60x deposit plus bonus worse than 40x?
Much worse. On a CA$100 deposit with a CA$100 bonus, 60x deposit plus bonus is CA$12,000 of bets; 40x on the bonus alone is CA$4,000. iWild's welcome pack uses 60x deposit plus bonus (bonus policy).
- Do all games count towards wagering?
No. Hellspin counts slots at 100% and table and live games at 0% (2a), and excludes jackpot games and a list of titles (2b). Bets on excluded games either do not count or can void the bonus.
