Interac deposit not working: find the step that failed

An Interac casino deposit passes through three parties: the casino's cashier, the payment processor and your bank. When it fails, the message rarely says which one stopped it. Seven causes account for nearly every failure, and most take a minute to fix.

An Interac casino deposit that does not work has failed at one of three steps: the casino's cashier, the processor that matches the transfer, or your bank. The cause is usually visible if you know where to look. We list the seven we see most, with the bank rules behind them, read on 9 October 2026.

The seven causes

Table of seven causes of a failed Interac casino deposit and their fixes
The send limit is the usual suspect.
#CauseWhere it failsFix
1Amount above your remaining send limitbankdeposit less, or wait for the 24-hour window; see limits by bank
2Request expired before approvalcashierstart a new deposit and approve within the time shown
3Name mismatch between casino account and bankprocessorcorrect your casino profile to your legal name
4Below the casino minimumcashiertypically $30 at the Terdersoft casinos; Spinwinera's text also says CA$50
5Wrong Interac email or phone in the cashiercashieruse the email or number registered for Interac at your bank
6Request never arrivesbankcheck that the email or phone you gave is the one registered for Interac e-Transfer in your banking app, and look in the app's pending requests
7Transfer cancelled or stoppedbankcheck the transfer status in your banking app before retrying

The limit is the usual suspect

Banks publish quite different send limits: 3,000 per 24 hours at CIBC, Simplii and Tangerine, 4,000 per 25 hours at National Bank, 5,000 at Desjardins, up to 10,000 a day at RBC. A casino deposit counts against the same limit as every other e-Transfer that day, including rent or a payment to a friend. Scotiabank lets you adjust your limit in the app; most banks do not.

Requests that time out

The Terdersoft cashier sends a request to your Interac-linked email or phone. If your banking app asks you to log in again or you switch apps on a phone and lose the session, the request can expire. Start a new deposit rather than reusing the old one. See mobile casinos for the one-phone routine.

Ready to deposit?

Open the cashier and send your first Interac e-Transfer.

Money gone, balance empty

If your bank shows the transfer as completed but the casino balance has not updated:

  1. Wait a short while; matching can lag.
  2. Open your banking app and copy the Interac reference number.
  3. Send it to the casino's live chat with the amount, time and your Interac email or phone.
  4. Do not send the same deposit again until the first is found.

Fees for cancelling

Cancelling a sent transfer is not always free: $3.50 at CIBC, Simplii and National Bank; $3.50 at Desjardins after 11:59 p.m. ET on the sending day; at RBC free within 15 days, then a $5 reclaim fee on an expired transfer. A casino request you simply never approved costs nothing.

See the Interac casino sites we rank for Canadian players; the deposit walk-through is on Interac deposits.

Questions and answers

Why was my Interac casino deposit declined?

Most often because the amount is above your bank's remaining send limit, the casino's request expired before you approved it, or the name on your casino account does not match your bank account. Below the casino's minimum deposit (typically $30 at the Terdersoft casinos) is another common cause.

Will I be charged for a failed Interac deposit?

A request you never approved costs nothing. A transfer you sent and then cancel can: $3.50 at CIBC, Simplii and National Bank, and at Desjardins after 11:59 p.m. ET on the sending day. RBC charges a $5 reclaim fee on an expired transfer not cancelled within 15 days.

The money left my bank but the casino balance is empty. What now?

Give it a short while, then contact the casino's live chat with the Interac reference number from your banking app. Do not send a second transfer for the same deposit until the first is traced.
