A Mastercard casino lets you pay with a Mastercard credit or debit card. At the casinos on our list, Mastercard is common at the cashier. The real gatekeeper is your card issuer, and Canadian issuers are specific about gambling in their card agreements. We could not open Mastercard's own Canadian pages from our location, so this page relies on the casinos' and the banks' documents, read on 9 October 2026.

What Canadian issuers write about gambling

| Issuer | Rule in its own documents |
|---|---|
| CIBC | may block internet gambling transactions; gambling is a cash-like transaction (cash advance); agreement effective 1 August 2026 |
| Simplii | may block internet gambling; cash-like on credit; Debit Mastercard cannot receive credits for online gambling |
| Tangerine | gaming and casino chips are cash-like; may decline online gambling transactions |
| National Bank | online lottery and gambling listed as cash advances |
| BMO | gaming treated as cash-like in its older Mastercard agreements (search extract; current version not read) |
| Desjardins | casino purchases earn no cash back |
A cash advance usually costs a fee and interest from the first day. On a CA$500 casino deposit that can mean a fee and interest you would never pay on the same amount by e-Transfer.
Open the cashier and send your first Interac e-Transfer.
Debit Mastercard and payouts
A Debit Mastercard draws on your bank account, so it avoids cash-advance charges. The payout side is less certain: Simplii's Debit Mastercard cannot receive credits for online gambling transactions, and CIBC's Advantage Debit Card has the same rule. If your card has such a clause, a casino refund or payout to it will fail. Set up a payout route that does not depend on the card: Interac where the casino supports it, or an e-wallet; see casino payment methods.
Our take
If you pay by Mastercard, use debit, check your issuer's agreement, and plan withdrawals by another method. For most Canadian players, Interac e-Transfer does the same job with fewer surprises; see Interac e-Transfer casinos. Our Interac casino guide for Canada compares every cashier.
Questions and answers
- Which casinos accept Mastercard in Canada?
Hellspin lists Mastercard credit and debit cards in its terms (clause 13); iWild has Mastercard payout labels in its interface; the Terdersoft casinos offer Apple Pay for Visa and Mastercard.
- Will my bank allow a Mastercard casino payment?
It depends on the issuer. CIBC and Simplii may block transactions identifiable as internet gambling and treat gambling as a cash advance; Tangerine may decline online gambling transactions; BMO's older Mastercard agreements treat gaming as cash-like.
- Can I get casino winnings on a Debit Mastercard?
Not on every card: Simplii states that its Debit Mastercard cannot be used to receive credits for online gambling transactions. Use Interac or an e-wallet for payouts if your card has such a rule.
